Training Seminar

The training seminars are meant to positively affect the perception of the girl-child and women who are limited by gender and other issues to maximise their potentials to become successful persons in the society.

Given the slight difference in the need of girls and women, we have decided to separate the girl-child programme from the women in order to address their issues properly and maximise their learning at these seminars. We believe that this could be a life-changing tool for our female folks.

Our impact would become meaningful when we see our girls and women referring to our programmes as programmes that changed their lives. For us at Leadership Foundation for African Girl Child and Women it cannot be business as usual; this is something we need to do to inspire our girls and women by showing them how they can maximise their potentials. These programmes are planned in such a way they can help them rediscover themselves and understand how to be useful to themselves and the society in general. For us, this is a way of giving back to the society, but we cannot accomplish this alone. We invite and encourage willing partners to join us and help our daughters and women understand, find and maximise their potentials in life.

HOW TO BE PART OF THIS

Come, train with us and run your own programmes in this area.  We would appreciate trainers, coaches, facilitators and people who are as passionate as we are to be part of the team.

The November 14, 2014 event would help us to discover the various issues with the girls and women and categorise them according to their areas of needs for them to access the required support.

In 2015, these programmes would be planned according to their various issues to ensure that no one is left out. Bringing girls with common issues together would help in reaching out to many of them in different categories thereby making the goal achievable.  We cannot do it alone, join us and make it happen! We are calling on the support of passionate and compassionate persons and institutions, who believe that these are achievable goal to join us.

In the first quarter of year 2015, we would commence by training the inner circle of partners first. They would be trained for three days as partners and trainers. The job of these partners is to open girl-child and women centres across Nigeria, wherever they live, arm of the programme where you live to develop a wide spread of the programme which aims at carrying everyone along.  Selection would be treated on a first-come first-serve basis.

REQUIREMENT

Qualification is welcome; however, it is not the basic requirement to be part of this; what we need are passionate, sincere, genuine, committed people who may want to make a difference in the lives of the girls and women to maximising their potentials. Send in your application explaining to us what you have done and how you can make a difference in the lives of these females.

We want to touch girls and women who work and who do not work or may be in disadvantaged positions. We believe that young girls who take advantage of this opportunity may learn more and understand how to conduct themselves. It’s generally believed that women have the ability to change the world; hence we want to give every girl-child and woman an opportunity to make the difference.

Note that the programme approach for the women to develop and maximise their potentials can be similar to the girls but we are starting with the girls first.

2014 THEME: BUILDING WINNING ATTITUDE TO GIRL CHILD DEVELOPMENT.

The theme is very vital in our society today, especially in much of the developing world, where the girl-child faces abuse and other related issues ranging from domestic abuse, sexual abuse, academic issues, illiteracy, and unemployment to gender discrimination, among others. In Nigeria today we are confronted with the mystery of the kidnapped girls from Chibok High School in Borno State.

Considering these issues, the NGO is inviting you to partner with us in building winning attitude to these gender issues that are of importance to our society since the various efforts made to make up or completely eradicate these issues appear to be failing. We believe that presenting winning attitudes to these issues would transform daughters and women.

The training content would prepare the ground for us to discover the girls that are affected by various issues, categorise them according to their issues and provide different platforms on how these issues can be managed.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

  • To provide a platform for discussing the issues, drawing insight and proffering solutions to the common ones that can be threats to the girls’ development and maximisation of their potentials.
  • To bridge the communication gap by enlightening the girls on the available help lines and how to use them when they are in a helpless situation.
  • To show them how to overcome or avoid this issues and become better persons in the society.

RATIONALE

  1. Building winning attitude in girls can be a useful tool to the transformational agenda.
  2. Transforming the girls’ psyche on the issues as a source of their limitation would improve their personalities.
  3. Providing a platform where girls can discuss their issues with fellow girls and take decisions that can benefit them and the society at large would boost their morale and encourage networking.
