Approach

We believe that education is both the means as well as the end to a better life: It increases knowledge on issues and empowers people to actualise their dreams. Education broadens the mind of the girl child and women, which enable them to achieve their life long goals that would benefit the society at large. Balanced parental upbringing and education build a strong foundation that free girls from most gender-associated issue.

Leadership Foundation for African Girl Child and Women is aware of the challenges of the girl child and women. Besides, we believe that education and the right information are the weapons in the girl child’s hand to address her issues as a girl child or a future woman. Before girls and women can overcome their challenges, they should have a winning attitude to their problems. That is why we introduce them to various programmes and activities to help them develop healthy, positive beliefs that would help them maximize their potentials.

By so doing, the known or yet to be discovered issues of the girl child and women will not pose a significant barrier to their development. We reach our target audience through collaborations with government established systems at federal, state, and local levels. We partner with co-operate organisations, individuals, local communities, and religious leaders to pass the right information to our target audience.

So we use Mix Approach for the girl child programme, which involves one on one or group mentoring, and are group according to their age brackets for high programme impact. The programmes categories are as follows:

  1. The Catch Girls Young Category.
  2. The Teenage Girls Category.
  3. Adult Girls Category.
  4. The Women Category.

Girls experience many changes and need the right information that they may not hear from their parents or teachers to help them maximise their potentials. Sufficient information can help girls make the right decisions about their lives and are more likely to stay in school, take care of themselves, and become successful future leaders, mothers, and become economically empowered. Right information, protect girls from being hurt by others, or doing things that would hurt her. For girls to succeed, we organise the girl child programmes in mentoring, workshops, and conference forms, but the women programmes are in groups according to their needs.

Besides, no girl child succeeds without the support of her mother. So we empower women to help them realise themselves, free themselves from poverty, and contribute meaningfully to their daughters’ development and the nation-building. Our programmes are open to children and men who appreciate gender issues and support the females’ effort to gain the long-anticipated freedom.
